What Data We Collect

We collect personal data only when you voluntarily provide it to us. This may include:

  • Contact forms: Name, email address, affiliation, and your message
  • Event registration: Name, email address, institutional affiliation, and dietary requirements
  • Newsletter subscription: Email address

Purpose and Legal Basis

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Responding to inquiries: To answer questions about our research programs, events, and activities
  • Event management: To register participants and communicate event details
  • Communication: To send newsletters and updates to subscribers

Legal basis: GDPR Article 6(1)(e) - performance of a task carried out in the public interest (research and education under the Norwegian Universities and University Colleges Act § 4-15).

Data Retention

We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected:

  • Contact form inquiries: 2 years
  • Event registrations: 1 month after the event concludes
  • Newsletter subscriptions: Until you unsubscribe

Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

We may share data with:

  • UiT administrative systems: For event management and institutional reporting
  • Service providers: Who assist us in operating the website (hosting, email services), under data processing agreements

All data is stored within the European Economic Area (EEA).

International Transfers

Your data is stored and processed within the European Economic Area (EEA) on servers managed by UiT The Arctic University of Norway.

We do not transfer personal data to countries outside the EEA.
