Post-Lie Algebras and Factorization Theorems

Abstract

We develop the theory of post-Lie algebras and establish factorization theorems connecting these structures to the algebraic foundations of numerical integration. Post-Lie algebras generalize Lie algebras in a way that captures the algebraic essence of parallel transport on manifolds, providing a unified framework for Lie group integrators.
