The Lie-Størmer Center welcomed its first CIMPA fellows in autumn 2024, marking a milestone in the center's international outreach. Ngwongwo Ignatius from Nigeria and Yadav Rohit from India spent one month at the center as part of the new Lie-Størmer–CIMPA Fellowship Programme.
The programme, built on a memorandum of understanding between the center and CIMPA (Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées), was made possible by increased Norwegian funding for CIMPA. Fellows participated in the Lie-Størmer Masterclass on 'Symmetries in Computations', combining online lectures with intensive research sessions in Bergen and Tromsø.
'Scientifically, the lectures were outstanding, and working closely with Professors Munthe-Kaas and Riener was invaluable,' said Ngwongwo Ignatius.
Applications for the 2025 programme, focusing on number theory, algebra, and cryptography, are now open.
